101

Connect Claude to your Notion workspace, then use it to write faster, think more clearly, and actually keep your notes useful.

Step 01 of 05

What you need before you start

This guide covers two things: setting up the official Claude connector in Notion, and using Claude to write real content inside your workspace. Here is what you need to have ready.

๐ŸŸฃ

A Notion account

Free plan works fine for this guide. If you do not have one yet, sign up at notion.so โ€” it takes two minutes.

๐Ÿค–

A Claude account

You need a Claude Pro subscription to use the Notion connector. If you are on the free plan, skip to Step 3 โ€” you can still use Claude to write Notion content manually.

โฑ

About 30 minutes

Setup takes around 10 minutes. The rest of the time is practicing prompts and trying the use cases in Step 4.

๐Ÿ“„

One real Notion page

Pick something you actually use โ€” a meeting notes page, a project tracker, a personal wiki. You will practice on something real, not a dummy page.

What you will be able to do after this

Read and write Notion pages directly from Claude, draft meeting notes and SOPs with one prompt, summarize long pages in seconds, and keep your knowledge base up to date without it feeling like a chore.

Step 02 of 05

Connect Claude to your Notion workspace

Claude has an official Notion connector that lets it read pages, create new content, and update existing notes directly in your workspace. Here is how to set it up.

Heads up

The Notion connector requires a Claude Pro plan. If you are on the free plan, scroll past the setup steps and jump to Step 3 โ€” you can still paste Claude output directly into Notion without the connector.

What Claude can do with this connection

With the connector active, Claude can read a specific Notion page when you link it, create new pages in your workspace, update existing content, and search across your notes when you describe what you are looking for.

Step 03 of 05

Your first Claude prompt in Notion

Before diving into use cases, let's run one prompt so you can feel how the integration actually works. Pick the path that matches your setup.

If you have the Notion connector

Open a new Claude conversation. You will see your Notion pages are accessible. Try this prompt to read a page and improve it:

Starter Prompt โ€” With Connector
I am going to share a Notion page with you. Please read it and then do three things: 1. Write a one paragraph summary of what this page is about 2. Identify any sections that are unclear or incomplete 3. Suggest one specific thing I could add to make this page more useful Here is the page: [paste the Notion page URL or share it via the connector]
If you are using Claude manually (no connector)

Open Claude and a blank Notion page side by side. Paste the prompt below into Claude, fill in the brackets, and then copy the output into Notion.

Starter Prompt โ€” Manual (No Connector)
I am creating a Notion page about [topic]. Please write the full page content for me in Notion-friendly format โ€” use headers, bullet points, and short paragraphs. Here is what the page needs to cover: [2 to 3 sentences about what you want on this page] Tone: [professional / casual / conversational] Length: [short overview / detailed guide / reference doc]
What to notice

Claude formats output with headers and bullets by default โ€” which maps directly to how Notion structures content. You rarely need to reformat anything. Just paste and adjust.

Step 04 of 05

5 ways to use Claude in your Notion

These are the five most useful things you can do with Claude and Notion together. Each one includes a ready-to-use prompt. Click any use case to expand it.

๐Ÿ“ Meeting notes โ€” draft, clean up, and action items in one go +

Give Claude your raw, messy meeting notes and it will return a clean structured summary with decision points and action items already pulled out.

Prompt
Here are my raw notes from a meeting today: [paste your messy notes] Please rewrite these as a clean Notion page with: โ€” A one sentence summary at the top โ€” Attendees (if mentioned) โ€” Key decisions made โ€” Action items with owner and due date (use what you can infer) โ€” Any open questions that still need answers Keep it concise. I want something I can actually reference later.
๐Ÿ“‹ SOPs and processes โ€” turn your brain dump into a real doc +

You know how something works but it lives entirely in your head. Claude turns a rough description into a proper step-by-step SOP your team (or future you) can actually follow.

Prompt
I need to write a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the following process: Process name: [e.g., Onboarding a new client] Who does this: [e.g., me / my VA / my team] How often: [e.g., once a month / every new project] Here is what happens, roughly: [describe the process in plain language, as messy as you want] Please turn this into a clean Notion SOP with numbered steps, any tools or links needed per step, and a notes section for exceptions or edge cases.
๐Ÿ“– Summarize long pages โ€” turn a wall of text into a usable brief +

When a Notion page has grown too long to skim, Claude turns it into a tight brief with just what you need to act on.

Prompt
Here is the content of a Notion page I need to review: [paste the page content] Please give me: 1. A 3 sentence summary of what this page is about 2. The 3 to 5 most important things I need to know or do 3. Anything that looks outdated or that I should revisit I want to read your output in under two minutes.
๐Ÿ’ก Brainstorm and structure โ€” go from idea to Notion page fast +

You have a half-formed idea and you want to get it into Notion before it disappears. Claude helps you think it through and gives you a structured starting point.

Prompt
I have an idea I want to develop. Here is what I am thinking so far: [describe your idea in 2 to 5 sentences, as rough as it is] Help me: 1. Identify the core question or problem this idea is trying to solve 2. List 5 to 7 sub-topics or components I should think through 3. Suggest a simple Notion page structure I can start building from today Do not over-engineer it. I want something I can open and actually use this week.
๐Ÿ“ฌ Content from your notes โ€” turn what you already know into posts +

Your Notion is full of ideas, reflections, and lessons you have learned. Claude turns existing notes into LinkedIn posts, newsletters, or captions without you having to start from scratch.

Prompt
Here are some notes I have saved in Notion: [paste the notes or page content] Please turn these into [a LinkedIn post / a newsletter section / an Instagram caption]. Voice: [e.g., warm and direct / professional but personal / conversational] Length: [e.g., short and punchy / 200 to 300 words / a full post] Do not invent anything I did not say. Stick to what is in my notes โ€” just make it worth reading.
Step 05 of 05

Keep the habit going

The biggest mistake people make with Claude and Notion is using it once, getting a great result, and then forgetting about it. Here is how to make it a real part of how you work.

๐Ÿ“Œ

Save your prompts

Create a Notion page called "My Claude Prompts." Every time a prompt works well, paste it there. You will build a personal library fast.

๐Ÿ”

Use it for meeting prep

Before any meeting, paste your existing Notion notes into Claude and ask: "What questions should I be asking in this meeting?" Takes 60 seconds.

๐Ÿง

Think out loud with Claude

When you are stuck on something, open Claude and just describe the problem. Ask it to reflect your thinking back at you. Then paste the output into Notion as a draft.

๐Ÿ“…

Weekly cleanup ritual

Pick one day a week. Paste your messy notes into Claude and ask it to clean them up. Five minutes. Your Notion stays readable without you doing the work.

Your homework for today

Pick one thing from Step 4 and do it on a real Notion page in the next 20 minutes. Do not save it for later. The first time you see Claude clean up your meeting notes, you will not go back.

๐Ÿ““

You finished Claude x Notion 101

You now have the connector set up and real prompts you can use today. When you are ready to go deeper โ€” second brain setup, business OS, automated workflows โ€” that is what 201 is for.
